This northern-most district of Kerala is a popular tourist destination thanks to its location. It has the sea to the west and Western Ghats to the north and east. Kerala’s two main cruise options - Chandragiri and Valiyaparamba - are accessible from Kasargod making it one of the most visited backwater destinations in the state. Chandragiri is situated 4 km to the southeast of Kasargod town. Backwater cruises in and around Chandragiri start from the Chandragiri Bridge. Here you can see the historic Chandragiri Fort, which was built in the 17th century. From the fort one can see spectacular sunsets over the sea. Also near Kasargod are the scenic Bekal Beach and the historic Bekal Fort.
